Early Childhood Development
VIN’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) Education centers are set up in rural communities for children of 3 to 5 years of age. These centers work to surround children who belong to marginalized communities, with a friendly learning environment. You as a volunteer may offer your care and support for these children by having VIN place you in one of these ECDs. You will be teaching basic English as well as playing with the children.
Children's Club Facilitation
VIN’s children’s clubs are extracurricular programs set up for youth of all ages. This is a platform provided to the children that aims to develop their innate skills, develop their creativity, increase their awareness of community issues such as health and the environment, as well as help them apply what they have learnt in the classroom to real life situations. You as a volunteer, placed into the workings of one of these children’s clubs, will be responsible to organize creative activities, whether they are oriented around contemporary dance, or formal debate, as well as help the children in strengthening workshops that deal with leadership training, life skills and many other important factors. While you work within these local children’s clubs, VIN will sort out your living arrangements by placing you in a Nepali host family where you will get the chance to observe the Nepali culture and everyday practices.
Most public schools in Nepal have untrained and unqualified teachers. It's estimated that more than 60% of the teachers - mostly at primary school level - have not had any formal training. We therefore aim to train and educate these teachers who will lay the foundation for a child's education. We want to break the cycle of poor education. Are you a teacher? Would you like to impart your knowledge and ideas to other teachers? We are very interested in connecting with schools and start a training exchange program. We have seen that the teachers in our local communities have benefited tremendously from these teacher trainings.
