Overview of Program
Seeking an experienced, professional volunteer with a sense of adventure
FVIN wants to offset your costs and give you the opportunity to put your skills and knowledge to the best use possible by providing to the rural communities served by VIN, a local Nepalese nonprofit organization.
VIN is currently seeking a committed volunteers for one of the following positions:
- Help publish a book to commemorate 10 years of VIN’s work.
2) Grant Writer
- Keep the programs running and moving forward by finding and writing grants for VIN's social development programs in two rural communities in Nepal.
- Provide training and oversight to teachers in 27 Primary and Secondary schools in the Okhaldhunga District of Nepal. Please be advised, applicants for the Teacher Trainer position must be able and willing to live in a very rural environment.
FVIN is looking to send one professional volunteer to work with VIN for a minimum of 5 months during 2015. FVIN will provide an award of $3000 to a professional volunteer who can demonstrate expertise in one of the fields and a commitment of 5 months working with FVIN in Nepal.
**If you are an experienced professional with a different skill set and project in mind, you may submit a proposal for consideration for this award. Please include an overview and detailed plan for your proposed project. Additional information may be requested.
The volunteer chosen by FVIN from the applications, will receive an award of:
$1000 toward travel to Kathmandu, Nepal, plus
$1500 in Volunteer Fees paid directly to VIN on behalf of the Volunteer. This fee will cover all lodging and food while living with a local family near the site of the project, and also include orientation, language training and local transportation to the project site.
In addition, there will be a $500 stipend paid at the completion of the 5-month service.
Applications submission deadline is December 31, 2014. Those chosen for the next round of selection, which consists of personal interviews through SKYPE will be contacted no later than January 15, 2015. The final applicant will be chosen by January 31, 2015.

Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) is a local Nepali organization with an awesome track record, built on teams of volunteers – local and international. This has allowed VIN to accomplish great progress since 2007, when they first began their programs.
VIN needs volunteers with specific skills, expertise and knowledge in order to take their work to the next level.
Friends of Volunteers Initiative Nepal USA (FVIN) is a 5013c established in 2011, by returning VIN volunteers who want to continue to support VIN and their programs. We encourage you to join in the rewarding experience of contributing to quality projects in Nepal!
